The PCMS Roadmap follows the Rational Unified Process as the base methodology to insure successful implementations. This framework utilizes four phases: Inception, Elaboration, Construction, and Transition.
  • In the Inception Phase, project management plans the scope and effort associated with the implementation. Resources necessary for the project are determined and functional requirements are defined. All use cases envisioned to support the final implementation are identified in this phase.
  • The Elaboration Phase is principally design and analysis. This phase begins with the identified use cases which are documented and combined with StoryBoard Builder to create visual representations of the process flow for approval. This iterative cycle is repeated until the final process and use cases are completed. Upon approval, the output files from StoryBoard Builder are used to begin the development.
  • During the Construction Phase, the output files from StoryBoard Builder are used as the initial input to the Beanstore® application. Module development will then replace StoryBoard components as they are completed eventually resulting in the final integrated application.
  • The Transition Phase includes the final logistic steps for the project. Once system integration is done, final user acceptance testing is completed. Upon approval, staff is trained, systems are deployed, and the application is launched.
  • Throughout the process from Inception to Transition, a PCMS Project Manager will lead the effort. The Project Manager has the authority and the responsibility to ensure successful implementation of this project.
